Camberley Heath - 17th March 1999

As usual the course was in excellent condition for the time fo year and provided greens a fair bit quicker than most of us have been used to recently. Despite a bit of a disorganised start the day went very well with all groups finishing before darkness closed in. Apologies if it was a bit of a rush at the start and at lunchtime (we would all have appreciated a little longer to do the carvery justice!).

Rowland's Castle - 22nd April 1999

An interesting course made all the more difficult by the windy conditions, though amazingly not a drop of rain fell on the 18 members and guests who took to the course, despite numerous threatening storm clouds. The greens were a little patchy (though I thought that they putted better than they looked) and together with the wind accounted for some disappointing scores, but the presentation of the rest of the course and the bar prices more than made up for any disappointment there.

Royal Winchester - 19th May 1999

A wonderful course in fabulous condition; excellent food and the legendary avoidance of rain (a tremendous thunderstorm breaking within a few miles but not much more than the odd drop of rain for the HSCGS boys) all made for a fantastic day out. The course was in super condition, with heavy rough and fast, true greens. However, the scores recorded were probably the best and most consistent in the recent past. Well done to all who attended.

Basingstoke - 17th June 1999

Basingstoke looks so much better in the sun! It was a beautiful day and the course was perfectly presented. The new clubhouse was a huge improvement over the portacabin of two years ago, so all in all a most enjoyable day. The turnout of 11 was a little disappointing, however everybody enjoyed the day (me especially!).

The Army - 29th July 1999

It was great to see so many at the Army, where once again a superb day was had by all. Several competitions were run in parallel, the Club Championship off scratch and the Peter Pearson Cup for higher handicaps ran all day and separate competitions for both morning and afternoon rounds. I trust that everyone felt that they had something to play for and more importantly enjoyed the day.

Newbury & Crookham - 19th August 1999

A reasonable turnout at Newbury once again found the legendary rain-avoidance system working at the top of its form. The previous day the course had been closed and everyone had got very, very wet. We, however, had to endure another hot, sunny day and some good scoring ensued on a lovely course in perfect condition.

Mannings Heath - 21st September 1999

How do we do it? In the week when an incredible amount of rain fell, 17 intrepid golfers turned out at Mannings Heath and were treated to a beautiful sunny day - alright, it did rain for about 5 minutes but I didn't get wet, I was in the trees at the time. Come to think about it, it could have rained for a lot longer and not upset me! A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all, with some good scores recorded on two very nice courses.
