Wokefield Park - 30th March 2000
| The first day out of the year was a great success, with 18 people
enjoying a dry (if a little cold) day on a challenging but fair
new course. The day was topped off with an excellent carvery meal.

Test Valley - 20th April 2000
| We finally paid the price for all those sunny days - the original
venue for this date (The Army) was waterlogged by persistent
heavy rain. At short notice, and despite the forecast of further
heavy rain we re-arranged the day at Test Valley - a renowned
fast-draining course. The staff there looked after us very well
considering the conditions and lack of notice. This wasn't to
everyone's fancy and so numbers were a little down on what we
had expected at The Army. Even so, 14 members turned up for
a morning drenching, though only 10 hardy souls took to the
course after lunch, when after a few holes the rain stopped,
the sun shone and it was really quite pleasant! |

Tidworth Garrison - 25th May 2000
| Tidworth Garrison proved a worthy new course and equally as
good, in my opinion, as its stable-mate The Army, which we unfortunately
lost to the weather. Tidworth gave us all sorts of weather in
the one day, ranging from bright sunshine to a stormy hail shower.
On the whole though, the weather was more than acceptable and
the 15 who attended enjoyed a most enjoyable day. |

Hockley - 28th June 2000
| My little book's description of Hockley as "downland" seems
to have missed out the "upland" part of the course. However,
all who attended thoroughly enjoyed the course which was excellent
and especially the food, which was wonderful. It was a shame
so few people (9) came to Hockley as it really is a little gem. |

Stoneham - 27th July 2000
| Congratulations to Harry Greenway who had a most successful
day on his 65th birthday, not only winning in the morning, but
bagging the long drive prize aswell. The rest of us had to make
do with an excellent day; the course was in fantastic condition
having hosted the Hampshire PGA the day before, was a tough but
fair challenge and to top it all the hospitality and weather were
also marvellous. I believe everyone, and it was a much better
turnout (17), enjoyed the day thoroughly. |

Royal Winchester - 23rd August 2000
| Another highly successful day at Royal Winchester was enjoyed
by all (16), even my guest who was a little the worse for wear
in the morning following a bit of a binge the night before Congratulations
to Matt Demery who, quite literally, came from nowhere to win
the Club Championship with a fantastic round in the afternoon.
However, even this magnificent effort was overshadowed by Bill
Peach's exploits in the morning. An exceptional 45 point tally,
did cause some comment around the table, as you might imagine!

Mannings Heath - 14th September 2000
| Even the petrol crisis couldn't keep the faithful from Mannings
Heath. Another glorious day, yes not a drop of rain fell, in
a week where it poured down every other day! As usual Mannings
Heath was in excellent condition, although, also as usual, too
hard for me. Why do I like it so much? Anyway, congratulations
to the winners; thanks for turning up to the rest and hope to
see you all at Newbury, where there will be many prizes to play
for, including the exciting finale to the Order of Merit. |

Newbury & Crookham - 19th October 2000
| The final outing of the year saw a good attendance (21), with
some excellent golf to be had. As always, the course was presented
in great condition. Congratulation must go to Matt Jennings, who
managed to sneak away with the Autumn Bowl despite falling ill
during the round and being unable to compete in the afternoon.
Well done! |
