Camberley Heath - 17th March 2004

Our first event of the year was at Camberley Heath, a venue that we hadn't been to for a while but which had been a past favourite for many years. We were greeted by fair weather (very nice for the middle of March) and most of us managed very respectable scores, especially for the first outing of the year! The two winners were Barry English and Chris Rogers with 38 and 39 points respectively.

Salisbury & South Wilts - 22nd April 2004

And so on to Salisbury, where the first trophy of the year was to be awarded (if only we'd managed to get it there!). The Spring Cup was won over the morning round by Tony Sladen, who certainly seems to enjoy playing at Salisbury in the morning - he won the Hawley Bowl there last year! Can anyone stop him making it a hat-trick next year?

Stoneham - 13th May 2004

This year's outing to Stoneham saw a very unusual event for our society - a round of gross level par! Alan Harlow's 72 easily won him the morning round, and we don't even need to mention the birdie putt on the last left 2 inches short...

The trophy was won in the afternoon by 2's specialist Neil Durant (with 3 in 36 holes!) with 38 points. And an excellent meal afterwards left everyone really looking forward to coming back again next year.

Calcot Park - 9th June 2004

Unfortunately, there were only 8 participants at Calcot Park this year - even though the weather was hot, the course was in good nick and the food was excellent. If you didn't come, you missed a great day!

The course was playing tough - off the back tees and with nasty deep rough - and this was reflected in the scoring. Bill Peach won the trophy with a score of 36 points. Alan Harlow won in the afternoon, and managed the only 2 on the day as well.

Royal Winchester - 7th July 2004

Storm force winds and plenty of rain failed to stop 11 hardy souls from braving the wilds of Royal Winchester to contest the annual Club Championship and Peter Pearson Cup. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Alan Harlow proved the class act of the field, scoring 61 pts of scratch and winning the Club Championship comfortably. The Peter Pearson Cup was a much closer affair, with this year's captain finally grabbing the handicap trophy after coming close on previous occasions!

Hockley - 18th August 2004

Another day of rather nasty wind and rain! Where has all the nice weather gone? Even so, some good golf was played at Hockley. Matt Jennings won the trophy in the afternoon with a very respectable score of 38 points. But the vast majority of prizes were scooped by Bill Peach, with a tally of morning winner, nearest the pin (am), nearest the pin (pm) and nearest the pin in two!

Newbury & Crookham - 8th September 2004

The fine weather returned for this outing, but the course proved too tough for most of us this year! Harry Greenway took the Hawley Bowl in the morning with 38 points, and Richard Edmondson went one better in the afternoon, scoring 39 points. But quite how Bill managed to get runner up in the afternoon with only 27 points remains a mystery!

Mill Ride - 7th October 2004

The climax of the season was held at Mill Ride this season, a new course for most of the golfers. Everybody seemed to have a great day, but the course seemed to prove a bit tricky, judging by the scores! Congratulations must go to Harry Greenway, who pinched the Order Of Merit title (on countback) by scoring a 10 and a 9. This achievment is even more notable, since he only attended 4 events and didn't drop any scores over the year!
